Hello All, I am new to this forum. I have a 10 y/o NH LX 885 that has 1575 hours. I run Grouser tracks in muddy conditions. I have never used any tire sealant and have kept a plug kit in the truck. Nails are 99% of my problem. It is tire time now and the tire dealer sells a product called Ride-On. They make a over the road as well as a off road . It will depend on the size and ply rating of your tire. Look on the sidewall of you tire or the owners manual for the recommend pressure. An 8-ply 10-16.5 tire should have about 45 psi. A 10-ply 12-16.5 tire should have about 40 psi. My . I would never foam fill a tire that has been used , unless the tire had 10 or twenty hours on it as if you are going to pay the bucks to get it done you want to get the most out of your money so go new when you do it around here the cost is per pound , a 10x16.5 takes right at 175 lbs , 5 per tire I am not totally sure of the price of the . We run tubes . Yes nails suck but so does a leaky sidewall. Spare tires are good insurance. While sealant helps its not a cure all. We do our tire repair so with 5 loaders I can fix a flat in 10 minutes. Better quality tires help also.
Bobcat sells the tire sealant but they are very proud of it. I buy 5 gallons from the guy I get my tires from for less than 0. Put the sealant in and you should be fine with any tire. If you're puncturing the sidewall, the sealant will not help you. I have a 873 with nails in every tire almost to a point where they looked studded. Yeah chloride sounds tricky. I was thinking my tires are getting older and somewhat cracked I wonder if filling all 4 tires 95% with something like tire slime and then pressureizing with air would work. Keep them from leaking if they get worse and not as detrimental to the steel rim. I could always use a glycol solution.
the strap works ----- I am lucky that I built my own Cheater years ago one day when things were slow , you know the tank with the valve that pops the tire onto the rim ,it works great , to buy one is very expensive , they go for 0 up -----but if your in the field and need to make it work , then being very careful you take and shot a spray of starting fluid or gasoline into the . (with sealant) will get it done. if there is a better option I would love to hear about it. tracks whether steel or rubber. don't seem to work. but you still see 763 f models out making ten grand everytime it snows. , kinda looks fun. except for . Tubes to fix tires are in my opinon useless. These machines are called skid steers for a reason and eventually the tube spins inside your tire ripping the valve stem with it. I get at least 10-12 flats a year most can be plugged but in th case of any rip or tear i just get new ones. Down time on the machine costs a lot more than a tire. Mount the first side of the tire on the rim. Next put the tube inside the tire if you have a pull chain or cable use it if not put stem in the hole and lightly clamp vise grip to hold it. Lastly put last side of tire on the rim. Use plenty of lube on both beads either tire lube or jb80 works also
