Again, probably not the case. I imagine you are safe in your situation especially if you're not running the machine too hard (like most operators). I would tend to recommend ISO 46 or SAE 10W-30 (engine oil) in most cases to be even safer. I wouldn't go draining out your new oil though. Hope this helps. Get an extra bucket of oil just in case. I normally wait until tractor supply have a 10 percent cupon or a good sale before I spend that much money. I purchased an l785 a few weeks back and am in the process of doing what you are doing. I would ask you to post a picture of your new toy, but we all know how cumbersome it is to to that on this forum.
Just a little side note for you boys that have newer machines that are still under warranty- You MUST USE BOBCAT HYDRAULIC OIL, bobcat is having the oil sampled if you have any type of failure to your hydraulic or hydrostat system, if it is not bobcat hydraulic oil, the repairs are coming out of your pockets.
I use regular, general purpose hydrualic oil, but not ATF. I used to use ATF in all my older equipment but its expensive. My new New Holland stuff says it needs 10W-30 motor oil. That's about 25% higher, so I use regular hydraulic fluid with no problems.
The Answer Power King Skid Loader Oil This fluid was developed to provide the best combination of properties available for use in hydrostatic systems. The focus was on skid loaders but there are dozens of other uses for this product. Proper Oil Viscosity (Oil Thickness)Power King Skid Loader Oil is a SAE 10W30 Oil with a VI of 151. I use regular 20W50 motor oil as it never gets really cold over here. Not sure i'd be really concerned with the SG/CG-4 spec. I'd like to think the cheap and nasty 10W30 would have fewer additives to reduce cost, so it should be mostly squashed dinosaurs without the fancy additives to reduce wear. Hi all, Just replaced my transmission main shaft and engine hub on my NH l553. In the past I have used a TDH hydraulic oil but I have read that I should use engine oil. Any opinions? There still would be some hydraulic fluid in the system, would that be a issue if I was to use engine oil.
The brush cutter attachment is new to us and we were surprised how hot the hydraulic lines were when we tried to disconnect them. Our machine flow is 24 and the cutter is rated for a max of 25. Pretty sure it blew all the oil out, it is not visible in the site glass.-Is it possible the fluid over heated and/or over pressured and blew the hose?
My machine calls for 10w30 motor oil for hydraulics. I have some SAE30w. . 317g John Deere skid steer . Your question is about the 10w-30 used as hydraulic oil in older machines. Yes, 10w-30 was and is still used my many machines of that era even in the cold. I too, live in Minn and my 753 is stored in a unheated shed and is used for snow plowing etc in the winter. About two years ago I was going to make the switch to the new bobcat hyd fluid. Again, probably not the case.
