Bryant I converted an old Danuser PTO driven post hole digger to be hydraulically powered. Its old enough that it was not standard 3 point mount. The guy selling it on Craigslist thought that since it was made for a specific tractor, it wasn't worth much.

My Cat has the shut off vlaves and the relief valves that you show in the picture on both sides of the valve (inside and outside). I had the same problem you did. At "stock" pressure, the thumb wanted to beat itself to death.
